Originally, Chinese immigrants came to the United States from China during the mid-19th century in search of a better life. Because of these events, Chinese immigrants established a community in the United States. The Boston Chinese Neighborhood Center (BCNC) is located in Chinatown and serves as its permanent home. Originally a branch of the Josiah Quincy School, the BCNC opened its permanent location in a renovated building on 38 Ash Street in 2005. Furthermore, the Pao Arts Center opened in partnership with Bunker Hill Community College offers students the opportunity to learn the art of making and selling Boba tea.
